Please be advised that some Jersey charities have recently received emails in relation to potential donations which request sensitive information about the charity and it’s governors.
Our advice to all charities is not to click on any links that come through via unsolicited email or text message. Charities should try picking up the phone (using a number they already know to be correct) to check with the sender that it is genuine.
If an offer seems too good to be true, such as a large donation in return for banking details, it might well be. Scammers send fake emails to thousands of people, asking for sensitive information (such as bank details), or containing links to bad websites. They might try to trick you into sending money or steal your details to sell on to a 3rd party.
